Karin Harjo is an Assistant Coach with the World Cup Women's Alpine Team for the United States Ski Team. Having coached 20 years in skiing, Karin has spent the last 8 years with the U.S. National Team and coached for Team USA at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics in South Korea. As a former Lady Spartan, Karin credits much of her passion for coaching to Coach Ann Williams and the time spent playing basketball at FFCC (now M State). From that experience and others, Karin believes that being a coach is about caring for the people you are leading and helping them to become their best. With a degree in Cell & Molecular Biology, Karin's path from her days at FFCC to becoming the first female to coach fulltime at the World Cup Level for the United States Ski Team has been anything but conventional.
The Bigwood Lecture is April 7, 2020 in Legacy Hall of the Fergus Falls campus of M Sate. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the Lecture beginning at 7:00 p.m. It is free for all to attend and we hope you are able join us.
Funded in part through an endowment by Otter Tail Power Company in 1991, the Lecture honors the late Bob Bigwood, who served as Otter Tail Power president and chairman of the board.
