BUSINESS IS BOOMING IN FERGUS FALLS
(Fergus Falls, Minn.) - Together with Greater Fergus Falls (GFF), the Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce (FFACC) continues to monitor the state of retail in our community and we are happy to report that retail, and business in general, is thriving in Fergus Falls. In the latter part of 2019, Greater Fergus Falls, the non-profit economic development organization helped several businesses with start-up efforts. Additionally, the FFACC tracked 110 brand new businesses/organizations that have opened in the Fergus Falls business community between 2014-2019 and more than 200 new Chamber members over the same period.
Chamber President Lisa Workman said, “Business is incredibly strong in Fergus Falls and we’re inspired by so many entrepreneurs venturing into new businesses. Although the new businesses are small (for now), they provide the biggest positive impact in our local community.”
GFF CEO Annie Deckert said, “The year-after-year increase in sales tax further proves that Fergus Falls is a growing community. We are having conversations with several property owners, investors and developers who are excited to learn about our development opportunities. Our strong partnerships with the City, Chamber of Commerce and County demonstrate our commitment to working together to strengthen our community and provide an even greater quality of life for those who live here, and those who want to move here."
To add to this excitement, the Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce (FFACC) reported that they tracked more than $317,000 in sales in Fergus Falls, over a three-week period during prime holiday shopping days this year. Their 2nd annual Shop, Drop ‘n Win promotion has proven highly successful with both retailers and residents, who simply shopped locally and showed their receipts at the Chamber for a chance at up to $500 Fergus Bucks. They estimate that they only received about 5% of local shopping receipts, indicating a much higher dollar value in local sales. What does this mean? People, both local and visiting, are shopping in Fergus Falls.
