Kayaking in Fergus Falls
Kayak the Otter Tail River with a local guide. Contact Jim Holle at 736-4552. He’s happy to provide you with a brief training session before heading down the river.

Maplewood Park
Maplewood Park is a captivating 9,000-acre wilderness! The park is known for its irregular terrain, heavily wooded forests and numerous lakes. It’s open year round! Facilities in the park include a campground with electrical hookups, a swimming beach on South Lake Lida, boat ramps on South Lake Lida and Beers Lake, numerous picnic spots, hike-in camping areas, and forest demonstrations!! New York Mills Regional Cultural Center
The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to expanding the cultural and creative opportunities of rural Americans. They offer a variety of programs, including: Gallery exhibits, music series, literary and theater events, education, Great American Think-Off and the sculpture park. 24 North Main Avenue, New York Mills.

Northern Aire Lanes
Look us up at 1419 College Way, across from the Fergus Falls Community College. We are a newly modernized 20-lane bowling center, also offering a restaurant with the original hamburger and old-fashioned malts, along with a variety of other sandwiches, soups and pizza. Old Clitherall
Site of Otter Tail County’s first permanent white settlement. Founded in 1865 by the Cutlerites, a branch of the Mormons, who fled religious persecution in Illinois. Stop down at the Chamber and pick up a Fergus Falls visitors guide which has a map of how to get there!!

One Mile Prairie
Enjoy two miles of walking trails through native prairie, just on the edge of Fergus Falls. One Mile Prairie is approximately ¾ of a mile East on Hwy 210, take a left onto the Sigelman Steel & Salvage road (19th Street) and there will be signage on the right-hand side of that street. Help yourself to a brochure regarding the sites of the trail. There are 23 markers along the way noting what you may see. Over 100 different species of native grasses and wildflowers have been identified. There is also a picnic shelter, with a small grill, if you’re in for a nice relaxing lunch.

Orwell Recreation Center
There’s a new dike, new rock shoreline and new playground equipment! Orwell is on the Otter Tail River, and in Breckenridge the Bois de Sioux River joins it to form the Red River of the North. It’s a great place for nature-watching, picnicking and fishing!!

Otter Trail Scenic Byway
From more than 1,000 sparkling lakes and wildlife filled wetlands to 19th century flour mills, scenic trails and spectacular roadside sculptures, the byway offers something for everyone! The byway goes 150 miles around Otter Tail County. Stop in at the Chamber for a brochure to take along with you!!
