    The Greater Fergus Falls Corp. (GFF) is conducting a search for a top-tier, high-performing Economic Development Executive Director. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage with local business, government, and community leaders and guide GFF's strategic framework to advance our mission and contribute to the economic vitality of Fergus Falls. Under the direction and supervision of the GFF Board, the Executive Director is responsible for the coordination and execution of GFF's goals and objectives, as determined by the organization’s by-laws and strategic framework.

    GFF is seeking a collaborative, ambitious, and driven leader and executive to serve as its next Executive Director. Under the general direction of the Board, the Executive Director will serve as a catalyst to re-imagine our strategy to continue growth and engagement in Fergus Falls. As the primary face and voice of the organization, the Executive Director will lead with passion and purpose to promote GFF's mission to support and grow the Fergus Falls business community. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the organization, providing strategic leadership and oversight of all aspects of the organization's operations. Guided by the pillars outlined in GFF's Strategic Framework, the new Executive Director will have every opportunity to serve as a visionary leader to create strategies for greater organizational impact and growth.

    The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and currently oversees one staff member.

    Responsibilities of the next Executive Director include the following:
    Build and sustain effective working relationships with investors, elected officials, business and community leaders, partner organizations, and other stakeholders to continue economic revitalization efforts.
    Develop and lead fundraising strategies and initiatives as well as short and long-term strategies that assist in attracting, developing, retaining, and expanding business in Fergus Falls.
    Oversee, coordinate, and support the management of all facets of GFF, including financial management and organizational sustainability; staff leadership and development, ongoing development of the Strategic Framework with support from the Board of Directors; investor relations; grow The Foundry Coworking and Entrepreneur Center; programming; and drive strategic initiatives.
    Possess knowledge of federal, state, and local economic development programs, including processes, implementation, and best practices. Lead engagement efforts and alignment of GFF initiatives; proactively engage with site selection consultants, developers, business owners, and others to identify prospects.
    Execute Fundraising Strategy.

    Preferred candidates are strategic, innovative, forward-thinking, and experienced in economic and community development. This position requires self-reliance to effectively run the organization, including staff, financials, marketing, and daily operation priorities related to The Foundry (coworking and entrepreneur center) as well as Business Retention & Expansion efforts, site selection, and other technical assistance. Candidates should have knowledge of fundamental economic development principles and best practices, as well as the ability to build consensus with stakeholders. GFF seeks candidates with the following attributes: Strong relationship-building skills to influence and add value as it pertains to economic development Business acumen with proven experience and understanding on business needs (both large and small) Passion-driven and commitment to community and capacity-building Growth-minded with the ability to ideate, innovate, and implement strategic initiatives to drive continued economic growth A proactive thinker and do-er that can leverage strengths, and identify opportunities for growth Financial and fundraising experience to maintain organizational sustainability

    Responsibilities of the next Executive Director include the following:
    Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Degree and major course work in business management, marketing, real estate, finance, and/or other comparable fields is preferred. Preference to those who have professional economic development certifications from nationally recognized organizations such as IEDC or NDC. At least 3 years of professional experience in project management, operations, business, or planning preferred At least 3 years of relevant experience in economic and community development or planning required.
