Bridging Progress in Fergus Falls

Updates

Welcome to MnDOT Moments, your dedicated hub for the latest updates on the Highway 210 and I-94 project. As the work progresses throughout the summer and into fall, we'll post real-time alerts, detour maps, and milestones here.

COMING UP!

OPEN HOUSE: Tonight Thursday, April 23rd, 5-7PM at AmericInn by Wyndham 526 Western Ave.

Construction is scheduled to start Monday, April 27, with closures and detour beginning Monday, May 4th.

  DETOUR MAP: (below)

What Motorists can expect through October:

  • The interchange ramps will close to all travelers during construction. Traffic to/from Highway 210 in Fergus Falls will be detoured to County Road 1/Tower Road.
  • Highway 210 will remain open for travelers during construction. Traffic will shift to one side of the bridge and be reduced to one lane in each direction.
  • Nighttime work starting May 4, lasting up to three days, for bridge demolition. I-94 will close in all directions each night, with traffic using the ramps to go around the work area. Ramps will close again during daytime hours. Hours of operation still to be determined. Once bridge demolition is complete, the interchange ramps will close 24/7 through project completion.

PROJECT SUMMARY:

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will reconstruct the Highway 210 west junction with Interstate 94 in Fergus Falls.

As a part of this project, the existing bridges will be replaced. MnDOT will replace those two existing bridges with a single structure.

With the bridge replacement, the roadway will be reduced from four lanes down to two lanes, with trails constructed on both sides of the road for pedestrian and bicycle use. Roundabouts will also be constructed at the interchange ramps and Redwood Lane.

The I-94 eastbound on-ramp and westbound off-ramp will also be realigned to follow the adjusted roadway. At the westbound off-ramp, the tie in will allow for a flatter approach. At the eastbound on-ramp, the ramp will be realigned for easier merging.

PROJECT ELEMENTS:

  • Replace bridges
  • Reconstruct interchange ramps
  • Realignment of western ramps
  • Improve bicycle and pedestrian access
  • Construct three roundabouts
